new beginnings

It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged, so I decided to use this rare rainy day to update my website and start over. Maybe it’s because I’m bored. Maybe it’s because the voices in my head have been screaming for years for me to write. Maybe its because my husband and I are experiencing the empty nest syndrome because our boys are in and out of the house all the time, getting their educations and living their lives. Maybe it’s a combination of all three, and I’m finally getting time to write.

I’m 75% done with my current manuscript, a dark academia romance about a girl named Willa, who moves to the small town of Hollow Cove looking for answers, and collides with Oliver, the cold, cursed heir if the Kelly Syrup empire, who believes her to be the key to breaking his family’s curse. I am having the best time writing it, and hopefully will have it ready for publishing by late spring/early summer.

For the past year, I have been working on a passion project with my friend, Nicolette, called Riot Grrrl The Anti-Musical. It’s a musical about two young outsiders who refuse to stay silent in a world determined to keep them small. I’ve never written a script before, and know very little about musicals or theater, but I have been having a great time co-writing this musical, and I am learning a lot about the musical theater business.

I guess I’m thinking that if I blog regularly and talk about my adventures in writing novels and musicals, I will be more productive, and my audience and readers will hold me accountable to produce. I’m not the most disciplined person on the planet, so I need people to stay on my ass and make sure I’m getting shit done.

That said, I’m ready to do this, so let’s do it!
